OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that our residents receive nutritious and appealing meals that cater to their dietary needs. As a Dietary Aide, you will assist in food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help enhance the dining experience for our residents.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in food service or dietary settings in a retirement home or long term care is a plus but not required; we provide training for the right candidates.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, especially regarding food presentation and safety protocols.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting trays or boxes of food supplies.
  • Must be able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check current within 6 months of hire and current TB Test result

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure that all food is presented in an appetizing manner and meets safety standards for quality and hygiene.
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
  • Support the dietary team in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and reporting any shortages or expired items.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and nursing staff regarding residents’ dietary restrictions or preferences.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on food safety regulations and best practices.
