Description This position is responsible for preparing and serving quality culinary dishes on schedule and to the satisfaction of the residents of our skilled nursing facility. This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of Kissito Healthcare. Schedule: Part-Time, Some Weekends, 4 Hour shifts, 8 Hour Shifts ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrates commitment to Kissito Healthcare and its mission. Prepares and helps serve all culinary dishes (i.e., entrees, salads and desserts) for lunch, and/or dinner. Documents information related to food production, quality, food safety and fulfillment of nutritional requirements of the residents. Maintains kitchen and storage areas in sanitary and organized condition and according to policies and procedures. Collaborates with team members and supports routine and special events with culinary services. Participates as a team member to ensure the culinary goals are met. Follows all safety and infection control policies and practices as mandated by the State of Virginia. Works assigned schedule with dependability. Attends meetings and completes in-service training as scheduled. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor. We are looking for a highly motivated Cook for our Post Acute Rehabilitation and Long term nursing facility in Low Moor, VA. The right candidate will have a passion for improving the lives of our residents and guests. This is a full time position. Requirements LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION ServSafe Certificate required EDUCATION/TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent, required. 2-3 years of experience in quantity food production in a culinary setting preferred. Knowledge of geriatric nutrition needs and experience with cooking for elders. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Keen sense of taste and smell. Impeccable personal hygiene. Ability to accurately follow instructions both verbal and written. Must be able to hear machinery operating. Ability to read and write legibly in English. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB Must be able to withstand the pressure of working in busy culinary environment, standing for hours at a time and lifting heavy pots and kettles. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, walk-in freezers/hot kitchens, etc. EQUIPMENT OPERATION Frequent use of cooking equipment and utensils. Movement of carts, boxes, etc. related to culinary inventory, supplies, etc. Computer and food service software.
Responsibilities
The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving quality culinary dishes for residents while maintaining kitchen sanitation and safety standards. They must collaborate with the team to ensure nutritional requirements are met and support special events within the facility.
