The Dietary Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the dietary services program in adherence to company policies, federal and state regulations, and food quality standards. Their role includes providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure compliance with inventory management, food safety protocols, and customer service expectations. They are also responsible for maintaining records of finances, supplies, personnel, and equipment, and reporting to the Regional Operations Manager. They are accountable for staff training, quality control, and department inservicing to uphold company standards and foster a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Engage in planning and budgeting activities.
  • Manage a cost-effective program.
  • Forecast and plan the procurement of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain necessary records, including food production, inventory, income/expense,
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Interact appropriately with residents, clients, personnel, and the public.
  • Respond to customer preferences and industry trends to design menus.
  • Ensure food is prepared using methods that preserve nutritive value and meet
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Ensure adherence to sanitation and safety standards.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and serving of food.
  • Perform essential tasks of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher positions.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Mandatory specialized training in dietary services management and nutrition.
  • Successful completion of an approved sanitation and safety course.
  • Preferred: Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and
  • Preference for Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) participation or certification.
  • Must undergo a criminal background check.
  • General knowledge and understanding of nutrition.
  • Ability to interpret a nutrient analysis spreadsheet of patient meals.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of quantity food production, serving techniques, and food
  • Understanding of dietary services program finances.
  • Skill in using public relations techniques to promote the dietary services program.
  • Ability to interact positively with residents, clients, personnel, and the public.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including email, food service management
  • Proficiency in motivating and supervising dietary services personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with a team.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment.
  • Skills in motivating and supervising dietary service personnel.
  • General knowledge and understanding of nutrition.
