Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dietitian to join our team. Please note this is a part-time (0.7) role shared between our Roseway Manor location in Shelburne (0.5) and our Surf Lodge location in Lockeport (0.2). locations. As a Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritional guidance and support to our residents. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about promoting healthy eating habits and improving overall well-being.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree with a focus in Foods and Nutrition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists
- Excellent ability to manager high stress or highly emotional situations
- Sound judgement and able to execute decisions efficiently.

Responsibilities:
- Remain abreast of new research by attending dietary workshops, seminars, conferences, and classes
- Review physical condition, physician orders, and psychological needs of residents to ensure high standards of nutritional intake
- Research new developments in the field of long-term care as it relates to diet and dietary requirements
- Implement dietary measures with a long-term view of maintaining or improving a patient’s quality of life
- Continually assess residents for any changes to their current physical abilities and future changes to their care
- Compare effectiveness of dietary plans against resident’s progress notes and modify or alter plans if necessary
- Discuss care plan meetings with the families of patients so that they are included in the necessary programs
- Chart and documents all dietary progress notes, including counselling, diet instructions
- Assess the need for new methods of feeding
- Educate and inform the food services department as necessary regarding diet therapy and nutritional requirements
