ACCESS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:

The Digital Accessibility team within UCF’s Access and Community Engagement division leads institution-wide efforts to create inclusive and accessible digital environments. The office collaborates with stakeholders across the university to ensure compliance with ADA, Section 508, and web content accessibility guidelines, while providing training, oversight, and strategic direction on accessible digital tools, content, practices and policies.
The Opportunity:
UCF’s Access and Community Engagement seeks qualified applicants for a Digital Accessibility Program Manager. The Digital Accessibility Program Manager, leads the development and implementation of accessible digital experiences across the institution, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and America Disability Act (ADA). This role collaborates with IT, communications, web teams, faculty, and external vendors to integrate accessibility into digital content, tools, and curricula.
This position also manages tracking and reporting systems for digital accessibility inquiries and needs, while overseeing staff and delivering training on best practices. Additionally, the role represents the institution in external accessibility forums and stays informed on emerging trends and legal obligations.
Classification Title: Program Manager I

We welcome candidates with any of the following skills and experience:

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Instructional Design, Accessibility, Communications, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in digital accessibility, including experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG, Section 508, and ADA.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in higher education, instructional design, accessibility, training and development, or a related area.
• Demonstrated experience leading or managing accessibility initiatives in a complex organization, including planning, implementation, and compliance monitoring.
• Strong understanding of assistive technologies and their application in digital environments.
• Experience working in higher education, particularly with accessibility in learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), digital course materials, and procurement of accessible technologies.
• Familiarity with universal design for learning (UDL) principles and their application in academic settings.
• Experience with accessibility evaluation tools (e.g., Siteimprove, WAVE, Axe) and developing remediation plans.
• Experience collaborating across departments or units, including working with IT, web developers, communications, instructional designers, or faculty.
• IAAP CPACC or WAS certification, or similar professional accessibility certification.
• Excellent communication and training skills, with experience delivering accessibility-related training to varied audiences.
• Supervisory or team management experience, including oversight of staff, projects, or functional teams

• Develop and Implement Accessibility Strategy, including leading the Digital Accessibility Lab.
• Work closely with faculty, instructional designers, and departments to integrate accessible technology.
• Assist stakeholders with making various digital formats (PDFs, videos, Excel files, etc.) accessible and provide guidance on remediation.
• Develop and maintain a system to track and report digital accessibility inquiries and needs.
• Work with individuals at all levels to promote and support accessibility initiatives.
• Generate reports and visual summaries to track progress, identify gaps, and support decision-making related to accessibility efforts.
• Supervise and manage staff.
