Overview
Temple Israel of West Bloomfield is seeking a creative and forward-thinking Digital Communications Specialist to join our Creative Communications department. This role requires excellent social media strategy and execution and graphic design expertise to ensure that our services, programs, events, and community initiatives are expressed with clarity, creativity, and impact.
You will manage Temple Israel’s brand presence across social platforms, as well as turning graphic design content requests into compelling digital assets. This position is ideal for someone who excels in professional design, purposeful storytelling, and evolving digital engagement.
Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Digital Engagement

• Plan, schedule, and manage posts across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Etc.
• Utilize social media management tools such as Hootsuite and Meta Business Suite
• Track engagement metrics to inform strategy and optimize content
• Stay current on trends and best practices in social media and digital communications

Graphic Design & Visual Communications

• Design polished, on-brand graphics for social media, email campaigns, website banners, flyers, and other digital or print materials
• Maintain consistent brand identity and accessibility best practices
• Collaborate with Creative Director and graphic designers to ensure quality and consistency

Website & Email

• Support communications team in updating or creating website pages and registration forms
• Proof content for accuracy and suggest improvements to enhance visual appeal and usability
• Draft and send emails, including design and content integration

Collaboration & Workflow

• Review program intake forms to ensure content is accurately represented
• Contribute ideas for evolving Temple Israel’s digital voice and reach

Qualifications

• Mastery of basic professional graphic design standards (typography, layout, color theory, accessibility, print/digital preparation).
• Recent experience in digital marketing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to write and edit short copy
• Extreme attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, digital media, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of professional experience in graphic design
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, Word, Whiteboard, etc.)
• Experience managing professional social media accounts
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms and basic website CMS and HTML
• Awareness of trends in digital content and social media
• Project management skills
• Experience designing for nonprofit or mission-driven organizations

Salary Range: $53,000 - $56,000
Location: Temple Israel of West Bloomfield
Hybrid, In-person, or Remote: Hybrid (primarily in-office)
