ABOUT THE JOB

We’re looking for a proactive and creative Digital Content Officer to help shape the online experience for the thousands of users visiting uel.ac.uk. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team of four, working across high-impact web content and ensuring an outstanding, accessible, and user-first digital presence for the university.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same – from editing homepage content to collaborating with stakeholders on new pages and digital campaigns. You’ll need to be comfortable using a content management system (ideally Drupal), have a keen eye for high-quality copy, and be passionate about delivering content that works for real users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, publish and optimise content across uel.ac.uk using our CMS
  • Solve content problems with clarity, confidence, and a user-first mindset
  • Work closely with UX, design, marketing and comms colleagues to ensure consistency across user journeys
  • Provide support, advice and training to colleagues on web content best practice
  • Apply SEO principles, accessibility standards and editorial tone of voice
  • Plan and build new pages, update existing ones, test components and manage redirects
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the university, offering guidance and support

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE:

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, collaboration, and attention to detail. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re:

  • Experienced in using a CMS (Drupal preferred) to manage and publish website content
  • A confident communicator with excellent written English and editorial judgement
  • Comfortable solving complex content problems and explaining your thinking to others
  • Skilled in SEO, accessibility, and user-centred content design principles
  • A team player who can also work independently and take initiative
  • Curious, tech-savvy and ready to grow your digital skill set
