Job Description

START HERE. GROW HERE.

“Are you ready to join a team of talented engineers and shape the future of the Energy Industry?”
We are looking for experienced candidates to satisfy our advanced IM needs across multiple opportunities. Successful candidates will support either within our central Digital Energy Team, or within one of our three Energy practices: Nuclear, Transmission & Distribution (T&D), and R&D. While delivering digital transformation within AECOM, the right candidates will also have active long-term project roles such as Senior Project Information Manager or BIM Project Manager for major programmes including the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade Programme.
These are complex and advanced positions based on the scale of scope, requiring the best IM experience. That expertise may focus on programme-level data and interface management, or on BIM/CAD delivery with ISO 19650 best practice implementation. The most advanced candidates can deliver all these capabilities at scale across major infrastructure programmes, leading the strategic implementation of digital information management frameworks and advanced BIM delivery processes while driving digital transformation and establishing new standards for delivery excellence.

READY TO PUSH THE LIMITS OF WHAT’S POSSIBLE?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in information management roles on major infrastructure programmes, with demonstrable client-side and consultant delivery experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related technical discipline.
  • Expertise in ISO 19650 framework implementation, including document authoring, and CDE management across complex programmes.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital engineering solutions, including BIM, GIS integration, 4D/5D methodologies, and emerging digital technologies.
  • Proven track record in Common Data Environment platform implementation (Autodesk ACC, SharePoint, others) with enterprise-level system integration experience.
  • Understanding of COBie, IFC standards, and data exchange protocols for infrastructure asset delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams across complex programme environments.
  • Proven ability to interface with senior client stakeholders and project leadership teams.
  • Experience with major infrastructure delivery frameworks (NEC, FIDIC) and their interface with digital delivery requirements.
  • Track record of driving digital transformation initiatives and change management programmes.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Chartered status with relevant professional body (RICS, ICE, BCS, CIOB).
  • ISO 19650 Lead Implementer certification or equivalent professional certification.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in budget management, resource planning, and delivery to agreed timelines.
  • Additional certifications in project management (APM, PMI) or digital delivery platforms.
  • Experience in business development, proposal writing, and client relationship management.
  • Published thought leadership or speaking experience at industry conferences.
  • Specific experience within energy transmission/distribution infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IM systems used within critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Understanding of asset lifecycle requirements and operational handover processes for critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with emerging technologies including AI/ML applications in digital delivery, VR/AR implementation, and digital twin development.
You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
At AECOM, we believe in creating a better world through innovative and sustainable solutions. If you share our vision and are ready to make a difference in the energy industry, we want to hear from you.
