OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dynamic individual, experienced in digital health applications, to join our exciting programme to develop IT solutions to a major problem in cancer treatment.
In the last decade immunotherapy has revolutionised treatment for certain cancers and the therapy is increasingly being used in many other cancers and earlier in the cancer treatment pathway. However, in many patients, the great benefits of immunotherapy can be accompanied by unwanted toxicity or side effects which can be serious and even life-threatening. The E-IMMUNE Programme (funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research) will develop an optimised digital health approach to management of this toxicity, rigorously testing the new approach in a randomised clinical trial. If successful, we aim to roll out this new approach throughout the NHS and beyond.
The Digital Health IT Coordinator role is a key post to provide the support needed to ensure timely and effective progress in the Programme, and maximum coordination across our multidisciplinary team, drawn from the University of Sheffield, and collaborating partners in other Universities, in two NHS Trusts (Sheffield and Leeds) and in the IT industry (Itecho Health Ltd in Leeds). You will be instrumental in supporting the successful development, integration, testing and deployment of a remote monitoring software platform (called Ascelus) to support the clinical management of patients undergoing immunotherapy treatment. You will collaborate closely with clinicians, patients, researchers, developers, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the platform. Your responsibilities will include managing the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process, coordinating system integrations, and supporting data governance and compliance. Additionally, you will play a key role in training and supporting users, as well as identifying opportunities for future innovation and improvement.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of healthcare technology, contributing to the development of innovative solutions that can significantly impact patient care. You will have the chance to work with a talented team of professionals and collaborate with leading experts in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Co-Design and Development: Facilitate collaboration between clinicians, researchers, developers and IT teams to ensure that insights from co-design are available to be seamlessly integrated into the Ascelus platform.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Manage the UAT process for the Programme, ensuring a rigorous and thorough evaluation of the product’s functionality and usability. Act as the conduit between the research teams in the Universities of Sheffield and Leeds, the NHS Trusts and Itecho Health to report UAT results and insights to Itecho Health developers.
  • Systems Integration: Liaise with and support the integration of systems, CERNER (the Sheffield Trust’s Electronic Patient Record System) and Ascelus, between the E-IMMUNE team, the NHS Trusts, Itecho Health and their integration supplier. Work across the different teams to complete necessary fact finding and documentations (e.g. defining data fields to push/ pull between Ascelus and CERNER) and ensuring smooth data flow and population of the EPR.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Support Itecho Health, the Trusts and the research team in maintaining data governance and compliance throughout the project, including terms and conditions, privacy policies, and data protection impact assessments and other necessary documentation.
  • User Training and Support: Facilitate comprehensive user training sessions for the relevant Ascelus platforms, both before and after ‘Go-live’ deployment for the E-IMMUNE project. Establish service support schedules to address user queries and concerns.
  • User Feedback and Improvement: Collate and analyse user feedback to identify opportunities for future improvements and enhancements to the systems throughout the project.
  • Opportunities to Innovate: Identify and assess opportunities for significant clinical impact through the development of additional innovative products and services, particularly in the areas of immunotherapy, wearable technology, and cross-care pathways.
  • IT Project Management: Manage additional IT projects related to or as part of the E-IMMUNE programme (such as the proposed National Late Effects Immunotherapy Database) supporting their delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Out of hours work: There may be an occasional requirement to work out-of-hours by prior arrangement.
  • Travel (for which expenses will be paid) to meetings with collaborators in Leeds (Leeds NHS Trust and Itecho Health Ltd)
  • Reports: Produce regular reports on the technical progress for meetings of the Programme Board
  • Collaborative working: Constructive interaction with partners in the NHS, co-applicants and collaborators, patients and staff, Itecho Health Ltd.
It is expected that the successful candidate will undertake training and personal career development as appropriate to the post and be prepared to carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
