Our Digital & Information group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technology Leader, with a proven track record of bringing their people together to achieve amazing results in the role of Network and Things Lead, in our newly established Digital Infrastructure and Services team.
Digital & Information is responsible for digitally enabling Urban Utilities today and digitally transforming future capability to enable provision of digital services to our customers, community and people. The group is accountable to formulate and execute Urban Utilities’ digital & data strategy, deliver Urban Utilities digital portfolio and provide day-to-day operations of information technology (IT), operating technology (OT), data, and the Internet of Things (IoT), including security, infrastructure management, system administration, network operations, and support services.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Digital Infrastructure, the Network and Things Lead will lead the team responsible for providing technical and functional support in relation to BAU support activities; maintenance; configuration; patching; incident, problem, service request and change management across Core, IT, OT and IoT Network Services and Infrastructure to ensure that the systems operate and perform at optimal levels and in accordance with business expectations.
Being accountable for ensuring appropriate operational and process documentation is maintained, advising on network architecture design and managing the relationship and performance of our vendors against their contractual obligations, the lead will ensure they are consistently monitoring the state of the Network and Things Infrastructure, working with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensuring the continued reliability of the Network Services offering within Urban Utilities.
Success in this role will be measured by the efficiency and reliability of network operations, adherence to security and performance standards, stakeholder satisfaction, and the effectiveness of network management practices. Key performance indicators will include network uptime, incident response times, compliance with security standards, and successful implementation of network improvements.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant qualifications in Networking (e.g., CCNA/CCIE, ANCA/ANCP/ANCE, JNCIS/JNCIA/JNCIP, ITIL) would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership experience in managing technical teams, preferably within complex network environments.
- Demonstrated experience in network infrastructure management within a complex and security focussed architecture
- Strong knowledge of digital infrastructure technologies across IT, OT, and IoT domains.
- Extensive experience in managing network operations, across the entire breadth of an enterprise network architecture including Core, Edge, Gateway, Wireless and VPN connectivity and security technologies.
- Experience working with IoT device networks would be advantageous.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and planning to ensure cost-effective network operations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting technology, working within a regulatory compliance framework such as APRA, SOCI, etc would be highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address business requirements.
- Experience ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and driving innovation in network management practices.
Performance of ‘on call’ duties are an inherent requirement of this role. This requires that the employee must be available to be on-call and to attend to work matters, both in person and remotely, outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required to fulfill the requirements of the position. The days, times, duration and frequency of on call arrangements may be subject to change, including at short notice, as required by Urban Utilities’ operational needs as applying from time to time. At all times whilst on-call, you must be fit for duty, contactable, and able to respond, including the ability to physically attend if required, to the operational needs of the business within a reasonable timeframe and in a safe manner.
