Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Digital Literacy Librarian, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs and resources to support the digital literacy needs of our library community. You will collaborate closely with the Digital Literacy Focus Team to ensure the Brimbank community, including library staff and users, are equipped with the skills and confidence necessary to navigate the digital world.
In addition to your program development work, you will also provide professional development (PD) sessions for library staff, ensuring they stay informed about digital trends and best practices. This role requires a dynamic and proactive individual who is committed to lifelong learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
As part of the Library Unit, you will participate in rostered desk shifts at any of the Brimbank Libraries branches, with one evening shift per week and one Saturday shift a month required to be worked. You will be expected to act as Officer in Charge when necessary, ensuring the smooth operation of library services and responding to any issues that arise.

THE ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Delivery of excellent direct customer service at all service points as rostered across opening hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Supporting branch leadership activities to ensure the delivery of customer focused customer service, resolution of operational and facility issues, and branch employee teamwork and communication.
  • Working with the Digital Literacy Focus Team to create and implement educational programs that meet the digital literacy needs of the Brimbank community.
  • Building relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to develop collaborative opportunities that support digital literacy initiatives.
  • Implementing and co-designing principles to develop community-led programs and services, with particular focus on vulnerable cohorts.
  • Mentoring and supporting library staff, providing training to enhance their ability to engage with families and users on digital literacy topics.
  • Acting as Officer in Charge, ensuring the day-to-day operation of the library runs smoothly, including resolving customer queries and overseeing library operations.
  • Participating in library collection activities, including selection, shelving, maintenance, and displays.
