The Digital Media Coordinator is a key member of The Summit’s communications team, reporting directly to the Director of Communications and Marketing. While this role is housed within the Communications Department, it also supports the visual and digital media needs of other departments, including Development, Enrollment, Athletics, Arts, and Summer Programs.
This position is responsible for leading the school’s digital storytelling efforts, with a strong focus on photography, videography, and social media strategy. The Digital Media Coordinator works independently to develop and implement innovative, effective, and comprehensive digital content strategies that engage all school constituencies and elevate The Summit’s brand across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Strategy & Management
- Develop, schedule, and manage content across all official social media platforms.
- Build and maintain a strategic content calendar aligned with the school calendar and key initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to plan and coordinate social media campaigns.
- Regularly engage with other Summit-affiliated social media accounts to ensure brand consistency and amplify messaging.
- Analyze social media performance and share data-driven insights with the Director to refine strategies.
- Photography & Videography
- Serve as the primary photographer and videographer for school events, campaigns, and daily life.
- Oversee the production of compelling video content for use on social media, websites, digital displays, and promotional campaigns.
- Maintain and organize a comprehensive media library, including content from contractors, parents, and student contributors.
- Marketing & Content Creation
- Support marketing campaigns for Enrollment, Development, Summer Programs, and other departments.
- Contribute content to the school website, bi-annual magazine, and various internal communications.
- Regularly audit and update visual storytelling elements on the website and partner platforms (e.g., Niche.com).
- Assist in the development of print and electronic materials as needed.
- Internal Communications & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to support internal communication strategies.
- Collaborate with departments across campus to ensure alignment of messaging and branding.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, journalism, or related field.
- One to three years of professional experience in social media management, storytelling and content strategy.
- Strong photography and videography skills, including editing and publishing.
- Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) and analytics tools.
- Familiarity with content management systems and email marketing platforms.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; experience as a writer/editor preferred.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of a pre-K–12 school community is important.
