Description:
EDUCATION:
Completed post-secondary education in the fine arts with an emphasis on digital media, or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years’ recent related experience in the following areas: maintaining, installing and upgrading networked Macintosh workstations, fine arts and digital media related software and related components/devices. computer usage demonstration. experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
SKILLS:
Demonstrated skills including:
Ability to deal courteously and effectively with people.
Effective communication skills. Ability to clearly explain technical information and procedures and demonstrate the proper use of equipment.
Ability to interpret and summarize information.
Effective organizational skills including the ability to work independently, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to problem solve independently and collaboratively with others. Demonstrated technical and computing skills:
Ability to provide technical support and/or guidance on the use of Windows and MacOS operating systems.
Understanding of fine arts applications, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite software.
Effective sound editing, video editing and animation skills.
Effective sound and music creation skills.
Ability to integrate animations and other media into databases and course authoring systems.
Ability to set up and troubleshoot issues with computer peripheral input and output devices.
Practical knowledge of webpage creation with WordPress or similar webpage authoring tools.
Understanding of new technologies like virtual reality, AI (ChatGPT).
Effective word processing skills (MS Word), spreadsheet software skills (MS Excel) and email skills (Lotus Notes).
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to Digital Media Program students and faculty using computing facilities in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design. Responsible for maintaining computing labs and related equipment.
