Description

THE MET OFFICE IS DELIGHTED TO OPEN OUR ADVERTISING FOR A NUMBER OF APPRENTICESHIPS, WHICH WILL COMMENCE IN SEPTEMBER 2025.

We’re looking for three Digital Product Manager Level 4 Apprentices to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Digital Product Manager Level 4 Apprentice, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week. However, part-time working (perhaps 30 or 33 hours per week) would also be considered. Our people are at the heart of what we do and we’ll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.
Whilst this is a temporary position for up to 20 months, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position as an Associate Product Manager.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You can demonstrate your understanding of what a Product Manager does and you can demonstrate your personal interest in Product Management or Product Development (we are experts by nature).
  • You can use standard PC applications to generate and maintain documents.
  • You can demonstrate good group working skills but also the ability and aptitude to take on some tasks and complete them to a deadline by yourself with minimal over-site from your task leader (we’re better together).
  • You can demonstrate a passion for learning and development and an aptitude to learn new skills (we keep evolving).
  • You can demonstrate an occasion where you researched an issue, identified and delivered a solution to that issue and then sought and acted on feedback around the solution you implemented.
  • You can demonstrate an interest in the varied work that the Met Office does (in terms of weather/climate) and you can explain your understanding of how it provides value to its users and customers (we’re a force for good).
  • Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A* - C (9-4) or equivalent including English and Maths and a Level 3 qualification (such as A level/BTEC etc) or equivalent work experience.
Responsibilities
  • Undergo on the job training and structured instruction to ultimately meet Associate Product Manager DDaT skills and competencies.
  • Shadow and assist other Met Office Product Management Professionals on a variety of Product Management tasks.
  • Generate, maintain and publicise Product and Service artefacts and documentation.
  • Develop end to end subject matter expertise in the services, dependencies and disciplines that you work on, then exploit this knowledge to maximise value
