• Familiarity with social media platforms and emerging technologies used in digital journalism.
• Flexibility and adaptability to contribute across multiple content formats and platforms.

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking an Entry Grade / Grade 1 Digital Production Journalist to support our ongoing news coverage and bring a fresh, dynamic perspective to our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the interests and habits of our audience, and a talent for identifying and creating stories that resonate with this demographic.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce original digital content, including news articles based on: Interviews, freedom of Information (FOI) requests, research, source development
• Work to a rotating seven-day roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
• Manage and edit incoming wire feeds and other syndicated content.
• Edit copy to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with the site’s fast, factual and free editorial ethos.
• Source and select appropriate images to accompany digital content.
• Regularly update the website’s social media channels with engaging, timely content.
• Respond to phone calls and email queries from the public in a professional and efficient manner.
• Handle sensitive material, particularly court-related stories, with care and legal awareness.
