What you’ll do: CSP is seeking a Digital Publishing Specialist to join our Content Operations & Delivery team for 12 months on a fixed term contract (with possible extension), reporting to the Director of Content Operations & Delivery, with no direct reports.  The Digital Publishing Specialist (DPS) will support the administration and ongoing enhancement of the organization’s digital publishing platform. This role prepares and validates structured content, including XML and metadata, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established publishing and accessibility standards.  The DPS will provide operational support for the content management system, troubleshoot platform and content issues, and participate in testing and quality assurance activities related to system updates and enhancements. They will identify opportunities to improve efficiency within content operations workflows, support the evaluation and integration of third-party publishing tools, and contribute to the maintenance of internal guides, procedures, and training resources. This is an exciting opportunity for an early career professional or recent publishing graduate interested in technology, publishing operations, and process optimization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Publishing Platform Support  * Support the day-to-day maintenance of the CMS for CSP’s scholarly journal platform.  * Manage and track assigned platform requests, including updates, fixes, and enhancements  * Triage and complete assigned internal website requests.  * Investigate routine platform issues, escalating complex problems as needed.  * Liaise with internal teams to gather requirements and clarify requests.  * Assist with testing, QA, and validation of new features or releases.  * Set up and update journal pages and site content using established templates.  * Support metadata updates and corrections.  * XML & Content Quality  * Review, validate, and edit JATS XML and related structured content.  * Troubleshoot common XML and display issues.  * Support compliance with publishing standards and best practices.  * Process & Workflow Support  * Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements to internal workflows and processes within content operations. * Evaluate and assist with the research and/or integration of third-party publishing tools and services.  * Assist with maintaining guides, procedures, and training resources within content operations.  * Accessibility & Compliance  * Assist with implementing content accessibility-related improvements. What you'll bring: * Relevant education or equivalent experience in publishing, digital content, or related field. * Experience working in digital or scholarly publishing environments, with familiarity using content management systems, publishing platforms, or structured content workflows. * Working knowledge of structured content formats such as XML, JATS XML, or HTML, and comfort working with metadata and content standards. * Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and support quality assurance and workflow improvements. * Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine technical or workflow issues by leveraging available tools and documentation. * Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. * Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. * A collaborative and adaptable approach, with a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. * Experience with workflow documentation, quality assurance processes, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) is considered an asset.
