Description Job Purpose The Dining Room Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the culinary department by ensuring high-quality dining service, excellent customer experience, and smooth day-to-day front-of-house (FOH) operations. This is a working supervisor role, meaning the Dining Room Supervisor performs all regular server responsibilities while also providing oversight, coaching, and coordination of the server team. This position is responsible for FOH scheduling, teamwork, training support, floor management, and maintaining budget expectations set by the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager. The Dining Room Supervisor must demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering a positive dining experience to residents, guests, and fellow staff. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Front-of-House Supervision & Leadership • Provide day-to-day oversight and direction to FOH staff during meal service. • Support servers with table assignments, problem-solving, and service flow. • Ensure dining room standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation are consistently met. • Uphold and model Stage Management values, service standards, and professionalism. • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new servers. • Provide coaching and performance feedback to FOH staff as needed. • Address resident or guest complaints politely and professionally, resolving issues or escalating when appropriate. Dining Service & Operational Responsibilities • Perform all server duties, including order-taking, table service, bussing, resetting dining areas, and tray delivery. • Support special events, theme meals, and holiday programs. • Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and infection control policies. • Coordinate communication between FOH staff and the kitchen to maintain a smooth workflow. • Ensure walkers and mobility devices are safely stored and resident safety guidelines are followed. Scheduling & Budget Management • Create and manage FOH server schedules, including coverage for vacations, call-outs, and special events. • Work within approved FOH labor budget guidelines. • Track FOH staffing levels and recommend adjustments as needed. • Assist leadership with ordering and inventory for dining room supplies (napkins, serviceware, etc.). Administrative & Communication Responsibilities • Attend staff meetings and contribute to department planning. • Maintain accurate documentation as required. • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff across departments. • Support the Executive Chef or Dining Director with departmental initiatives and goals. Other Duties • Assist with kitchen operations when needed. • Participate in required training and state surveys. • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Executive Director. Requirements Qualifications and Experience • Prior experience in food service, healthcare dietary services, or senior living preferred but not required. • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines. • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Compassion, respect, and professionalism when interacting with residents and staff. • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Weekend coverage is required. • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a server in a restaurant, senior living, or hospitality setting • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a lead, trainer, or supervisory capacity. • High school diploma or GED preferred. • Must pass background check and routine TB test. • Ability to use general office equipment and basic computer systems. • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
