Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The role of Governance Assistant supports the RD Chief of Staff (CoS) and their team. The team is responsible for providing support to drive forward business governance, assisting in facilitating effective reporting and acting as a conduit for RD, DIO, MOD and Civil Service initiatives to enable RD to operate as an efficient, cohesive unit.
This is a busy but rewarding role where you will experience work of an interesting, multifaceted, and challenging nature. We are seeking an individual who can use their own initiative; is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, supporting on multiple priorities; who can demonstrate a flexible innovative approach, enabling them to adapt quickly to changing/urgent requirements. The post holder should have strong communication skills both written and face-to-face, with the ability to engage with a wide range of staff including Senior Management.

The role of Governance Assistant includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Providing administrative support to Chief of Staff team
  • Providing administrative support to the Chief of Staff including organising meetings, creating slide decks, and any ad-hoc tasks required.
  • Supporting the tracking of Learning & Development activity across the CoE
  • Track and support RD and CoE Parliamentary Business requests, keeping accurate and concise records.
  • Ensure the CoE is compliant with mandatory staff related requirements e.g. mandatory training.
  • Supporting the periodic refresh of training packages
  • Supporting assurance activity for the 1* business area.
  • Maintaining Business Impact Analysis records.
  • Supporting the creation and ongoing review of CoE governance documents.
  • Any other tasks reasonably expected of the grade to support Defence and wider government objectives
