Working as part of the DIO People Team, the Senior People Data Analyst will be an integral to the Workforce Planning & Data function. This is an exciting time to join the team as we are currently reviewing the delivery of the people data service to the organisation. The successful candidate will support the Strategic Workforce Planning Lead on reviewing our People Data Strategy, and drive forward the delivery and continuous improvement of our future provision. You will lead the analytics team in delivering people data reporting, driving evidence-based decision-making and analytical insights to the People Team and wider DIO organisation.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key responsibilities and duties include;

  • extracting, building and analysing people data from internal and external sources and presenting it in a clear and compelling way for stakeholders and senior leaders
  • creating all monthly corporate reporting and adhoc requests, ensuring they are produced accurately and on time
  • conducting deep dive analysis to understand trends and building insights to support the identification of workforce risks to enable data-driven decisions on people interventions
  • acting as the People Team’s Data Protection Officer, responsible for ensuring compliance with legal requirements
  • driving improvements and overseeing the integrity of HR data held within systems by conducting regular audits
  • understanding business requirements and how these align to strategic priorities to improve reporting and insights
  • supporting the wider People Team with appropriate data insights to meet business requests and workforce interventions
  • provide line management to the data analytics team and support their personal development
  • building a network of People Data Analytics peers across MOD to help deliver continuous improvement, data quality and share best practice.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

To be successful in this role, you will meet the following essential criteria;

  • experience in analysing and interrogating complex datasets and using HR systems (such as Oracle Fusion and Cognos) to produce data reports
  • have strong communication, problem-solving and storytelling skills to build evidence-based analytical insights and recommendations in an engaging way for a diverse range of stakeholders
  • have experience of initiating improvements through automation and other innovative ideas to improve efficiency, remove unnecessary or duplicate reporting and enhance our provision
  • high attention to detail whilst always maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality towards information and data
  • work on your own initiative, to handle conflicting demands and priorities to deliver within tight timescale
