Description The Director of Hispanic Ministry supports the coordination of all areas of Hispanic ministry within the Diocese of Charlotte. This role is crucial in promoting the participation and full inclusion of Hispanic Catholics into the local life of their parish and of the universal Church by collaborating with pastors and parish leaders to address their pastoral needs. The director, together with the bishop, presbyteral council, local pastors, and other curial offices, is responsible for developing programs that respond to the reality and needs of the Hispanic faithful. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee and direct all Hispanic Ministry programs related to the Office of Hispanic Ministry. Meet with the bishop; prepare the report of the department activities for presentation at the diocesan Curial Cabinet twice-monthly meeting. Represent the Diocese of Charlotte at regional and national meetings. Implement, in collaboration with our broader diocesan pastoral initiatives and local parish planning, the National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry where applicable. Align with the bishop's mission and vision and share this with all entities through leading, organizing, providing guidance and support, ensuring effective communication and collaboration, and fostering the spiritual development of all engaged in the ministry in a positive and productive environment. Meet regularly with local Hispanic ministry leaders to assess needs and coordinate diocesan efforts. Develop pastoral programs, in collaboration with local Hispanic ministry leaders, that will serve the needs of Hispanic communities in leadership formation, evangelization, catechesis, and discipleship. Support and guide volunteers and coordinators of Hispanic ministry at the parish level with resources and training. Collaborate with all diocesan offices so that the unique perspective of the Hispanic community may be brought to bear. Provide guidance to Hispanic apostolic movements and groups within the diocese. Prepare, maintain, and administer the Hispanic Ministry budget. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other duties as assigned. DIRECT REPORTS: Office Coordinator for Hispanic Ministry About the Diocese The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte encompasses 2,750 personnel across 93 parishes and missions (of which 80% offer at least one Mass in Spanish) and 20 Catholic schools in 46 counties of western North Carolina, with a growing Catholic population of more than 565,000. Requirements Experience Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with the Hispanic Catholic community at the parish level. Two (2) or more years of experience in diocesan ministry (optional, but strongly recommended). Skills Complete fluency in English and Spanish required. Native speaker preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English. Pastoral experience in working with multiple different cultures is preferred. Strong listening, empathy, and organizational skills. Highly organized with administrative, project management, and supervisory skills. Intermediate to advanced computer skills and familiarity with social media. Must possess basic computer knowledge, including the MS Office suite. Demonstrated skills as a servant leader in crafting and implementing mission, vision, and strategies. Working Environment This is an onsite position at the Diocesan Pastoral Center. Some evening and weekend work required, as well as travel to diocesan locations.
