Advocates is seeking a creative and compassionate Direct Support Professional/Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with a gifted 26-year-old man with a developmental disability. In this critical role, you will help him in learning key independent living skills, acclimate him into his community while pursuing activities that interest him, and help to cultivate his knowledge on topics such as geography, vocabulary, music, and more. This gentleman has a heart of gold but will need coaching and motivation necessary to explore his community and make connections within it. He may also require assistance in the restroom, though it should not be extensive. The ideal candidate for the DSP position will have effective communication and leadership skills, patience, and strong organizational skills. Experience working with people with disabilities is strongly preferred. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address. Hours and days of work A total of 8 hours per week are available. The selected candidate can work a combination of: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday (starting at or after 2:45 PM with a flexible end time) or Thursday (starting at 11 AM or later). Pay rate: ranges $21.30 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $15.50 per hour.
