Description A Direct Support Professional, DSP, supports individuals with developmental and physical disabilities to live a quality life. To promote health, safety, and well being of individuals. A Direct Support Professional serves as an advocate for individuals in communicating their needs and achieve their goals. We are currently looking for qualified to work in the Valparaiso area. We will train, prepare, and support you to succeed! This position could be part-time or full-time, depending on your availability! After school availability minimum 6 hours per week; day time availability minimum of 8 hours per week; evening and weekend availability minimum 8 hours per week. Feel free to mix and match hours, or commit to a full time caregiving position that is as fulfilling for you as it is beneficial for the individual that you support! Requirements Great people skills! Organizational skills, time management skills, good written and verbal communication skills, multi-tasking skills, critical thinking, active listening, reading comprehension, teamwork, interpretation, problem solving, teaching, innovating and strategizing. You may need to lift and support individuals with hygiene needs. This job includes meal preparation and very light housekeeping. High school diploma or equivalent. Drivers license, updated vehicle insurance and registration. CPR certification (we offer certification if you do not have it). Negative TB test within 60 days of hire.
