OVERVIEW

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide individualized behavioral support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges. This role focuses on delivering structured, one-on-one support designed to help clients achieve greater independence and success in home and community settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting individuals with behavioral health needs, including familiarity with behavior management techniques
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, therapeutic relationships
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field is preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support, supervision, and one-on-one behavioral support to clients in residential and community settings, including those with Autism, ADHD, Severe Intellectual Disabilities, and Mood Disorders
  • Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, medication management, and housekeeping.
  • Engage clients in time-structured, goal-oriented activities designed to support behavioral and emotional growth
  • Use positive reinforcement, modeling, and preventative strategies to address challenging behaviors, including physical aggression, striking and biting
  • Implement preventative strategies and respond to crises using evidence-based intervention techniques
  • Respond to crises using de-escalation and intervention techniques to ensure safety and well-being
  • Transport clients to and from community-based activities, appointments, and other engagements
  • Encourage skill development and independence through structured support and behavior management
  • Use the home and community environment as learning opportunities to teach appropriate behaviors and life skills
  • Follow each client’s personalized treatment plan, incorporating interventions that meet their unique goals
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, behaviors, incidents, and health status
  • Promote skill-building and independence through consistent reinforcement, role modeling, and behavior management strategies
  • Provide emotional support and build therapeutic, supportive relationships with clients
  • Collaborate with families, team members, and external professionals to coordinate care and services
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to strengthen knowledge and skills
