Direct Support Professional Responsibilities: Empower Independence – Support individuals with daily living tasks like cooking, dressing, and grooming while encouraging their self-sufficiency Build Meaningful Connections – Foster community involvement and help individuals build lasting relationships Be Their Advocate – Monitor physical and emotional well-being and communicate important updates to the care team through accurate documentation and real-time updates Ensure Health & Safety – Administer medications following medical guidelines, including mealtime safety and maintaining a safe, clean environment Celebrate Progress – Implement behavior support plans and encourage positive behaviors that help individuals thrive Stay Organized – Maintain accurate documentation to ensure quality care continuity Problem-Solve Together – Guide individuals through challenges and promote independence through supportive problem-solving Requirements Must-Haves: Successful completion of Emory Valley Center's internal training (e.g. CPR/FA, Medication Certification, etc.) Valid driver's license with a clean 3-year driving record Successful completion of background check covering employment history from age 18 to present You're a Great Fit If You: Stay calm under pressure and use good judgment Have a compassionate approach to personal care Enjoy working with diverse individuals Can handle basic computer and documentation tasks Thrive in dynamic, ever-changing environments Can de-escalate challenging situations with patience and skill Annual registry, background, and motor vehicle record reviews are part of our commitment to safety.
