REQUIREMENTS TO BE A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL:

  • Bachelor’s degree – preferably in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable traveling locally to provide care in client homes
  • Ability to work 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM shift, including some weekends or holidays as needed
  • Previous experience providing direct care is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered care and support to individuals in their homes
  • Assist clients with daily living tasks such as hygiene, medication reminders, meal preparation, and mobility
  • Foster social engagement and encourage participation in community or recreational activities
  • Promote independence while ensuring safety and well-being
  • Monitor and document client behavior, needs, and progress using electronic health records
  • Communicate effectively with families, care teams, and supervisory staff
  • Respond to emergency situations and implement care plans as directed
  • Maintain a respectful and supportive environment for all clients
  • Drive to and from client homes to deliver scheduled care services during assigned shift
