Advocates is seeking a creative and compassionate Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to make a difference in the life of a young man with a developmental disability. The support person will provide assistance so he can participate in everyday activities and achieve his goals, including independent living skills, communication goals, and recreational activities. The ideal candidate is reliable, enthusiastic, playful, active, has a passion for animals, enjoys helping people, has great communication skills, and is able to use their sign language skills to communicate with this young man and interpret for him when needed. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address. Hours and days of work Monday through Friday (9 AM - 3 PM) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (5 PM - 8 PM) Saturday or Sunday (11:30 AM - 6 PM) Full-time opportunities may be available. Pay rate: $25 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.
