About the Role: The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized support and assistance. This position focuses on fostering independence and promoting community integration for people we support, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and opportunities. The DSP will work closely with people to develop and implement individualized care plans that address their unique needs and goals. By building trusting relationships, the DSP will empower people to make choices and engage in meaningful activities. Ultimately, the DSP's efforts contribute to a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and enhances overall well-being. The tools you need * High school diploma or equivalent. * Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field. * Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. * Must be available to attend the 2.5 week hourly paid-training program during the hours of 8am-5pm Expectations:  * Certification in CPR and First Aid. * Certification in PA DPW Medication Administration  * Knowledge of local community resources and support services. * Microsoft/Technology Skills  * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Responsibilities: * Provide direct assistance to people in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks. * Support people in developing and achieving personal goals through skill-building and community engagement. * Maintain accurate documentation of peoples' progress and any changes in their needs or behaviors. * Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and update individualized support plans. * Facilitate social interactions and community involvement to promote inclusion and enhance social skills. Skills: The required skills for this role include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with people and their families. Problem-solving skills are utilized daily to address challenges that may arise in person's care and to adapt support strategies as needed. Organizational skills are important for maintaining accurate records and managing multiple client schedules effectively. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of behavior management techniques, enhance the DSP's ability to support people in navigating social situations. Overall, a combination of these skills ensures that the DSP can provide high-quality, compassionate care that meets the diverse needs of people.
