DAYHAB POSITION - M-F Day Shift Only
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for assisting people receiving services to live a full and meaningful life, by providing a wide variety of supports. The DSP encourages, and teaches skills to promote autonomy, community inclusion and provide a safe and healthy environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age OR high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License, one year minimum of licensed driving experience
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Fundamental computer skills
Responsibilities
  • Review, understand and follow each person’s plan of protective oversight, Individual Service Plan, safeguards, comprehensive functional assessment (CFA), or other service-related documentation or plan and Behavior Support plans
  • Ensure peoples safety by following Safeguards or Individual Plan of Protective Oversight
  • Support people in their personal care and document as required.
  • Prepare food for prescribed diets and assist/monitor people while eating
  • Reposition people in beds or chairs as needed
  • Assist in ambulation and/or transfers with people throughout the day.
  • Assist people to participate in community activities of their choice and build or enhance relationships
  • Document on a designated Agency form (ABC Sheet) person’s behaviors as required
  • Attend to routine health-care needs of people under supervision of medical personnel
  • Assist / perform household activities: cooking, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, shopping, etc
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the people served
  • Assist other team members when the opportunity presents itself, when requested by another team member or assist in emergency situations and routine fire drills
  • Inspect equipment and environment for malfunction / disrepair
  • Communicate questions, concerns or issues to appropriate personnel
  • Perform CPR & First Aid as needed
  • Performs other duties assigned
