POSITION TITLE: Direct Support Professional    LOCATION: Nashville, TN   STATUS: Part Time, Hourly   PROGRAM: Developmental Disabilities Services   REPORTS TO: Home Manager     INTRODUCTION Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is a non-profit organization serving four states. Our mission is to create positive change in people’s lives and strengthen communities. We provide housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors. We also offer care and support for people with developmental disabilities, promote restorative justice, and provide free HIV testing and education. We also offer a full benefits package for eligible employees.   JOB SUMMARY & QUALIFICATIONS: This position provides direct care, training, and assistance to individuals in daily living, self-care, recreation, skill development, and work readiness. You will also help protect and uphold the rights of the people you support. * High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent skills and experience) * Ability to read, write, and understand English   RESPONSIBILITIES * Ensure the comfort and safety of individuals served, meeting their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs. * Interact in a supportive and therapeutic way, using effective methods to encourage positive behavior. * Provide transportation and assist individuals in participating in community and social activities. * Help with general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry. * Keep the home clean and well-maintained through regular cleaning tasks. * Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings. * Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
