Sous la supervision du Directeur principal, le Directeur des Médicaments Génériques occupe une position clé dans la définition et la mise en œuvre de la vision stratégique de McKesson pour l’approvisionnement en médicaments génériques. En tant que stratège et négociateur chevronné, le Directeur est chargé de développer et de maintenir des relations fournisseurs à fort impact, de mener des activités de négociation et d’assurer une exécution contractuelle efficace. Le poste exige de diriger une équipe de gestionnaires de catégories et de spécialistes, afin de stimuler les opportunités de marché et de surpasser les objectifs organisationnels, tout en mettant l’accent sur la croissance stratégique, l’innovation et l’excellence des relations avec les fournisseurs.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Director of Procurement Strategy, the Director of Generics plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision for McKesson’s generics procurement efforts. This leadership position focuses on maximizing financial performance, optimizing service levels, and maintaining inventory balance through innovative revenue generation initiatives. The Director is a seasoned strategist and negotiator, responsible for cultivating and maintaining high-impact supplier relationships, spearheading negotiation activities, and ensuring the effective execution of contracts. The role involves leading a team of Category Managers and Specialists in driving market opportunities and surpassing organizational objectives, with a keen focus on strategic growth, innovation, and supplier relationship excellence.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in strategic negotiations, supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, manufacturer planning and category management.
  • Inventory management experience an asset.
  • Life Sciences/ Wholesale/experience an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent.
  • MBA Preferred.
  • MSc, CPIM or SCMP designations are assets.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Outstanding negotiating skills.

Responsibilities:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Generation

  • Develop vendor revenue strategies.
  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking strategy for generics agreements that aligns with McKesson’s overarching business objectives.
  • Lead the team in identifying and negotiating high-revenue agreements with key vendors, optimizing cash flow and EBITDA.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Sales, Operations) to manage risks and ensure streamlined conflict resolution and escalation processes.
  • Drive strategic alignment with the Procurement Operations team to balance customer service levels.
  • Collaborate with the Buyer-Planner team for return-on-capital evaluation and execution of such agreements, ensuring services are delivered and funds collected in a timely manner.
  • Define and communicate specific strategy and key decisions related to Gx to the Procurement Operations team as required.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with vendors, initiating high-level discussions to leverage market insights and best practices for mutual benefit.
  • Lead comprehensive Business Reviews and strategic action planning to enhance supplier performance and value delivery.
  • Pioneer innovative solutions and strategies to maintain best in class service levels and foster value-based vendor relationships.
  • Assess supplier performance against established KPIs and prioritize vendor development efforts accordingly.
  • Lead conflict resolution/mediation/risk management/negotiating settlements with multiple stakeholders impacting agreements/contracts and revenues.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Support customer initiatives and manage Retail Banner KPI performance to align with strategic formulary programs. (Service levels, compliance)
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure alignment on strategic negotiation terms and service delivery commitments.

Contract Management

  • Oversee contract management over its lifecycle and act as a subject matter expert for vendors on strategic matters.
  • Negotiate and draft various contracts and agreements related to Strategic or Operational initiatives.
  • Liaise with and coordinate multiple internal stakeholders to assess, validate, and get internal approval and alignment on negotiation terms or potential services.
  • Provide Category Managers and Category Specialists with guidelines on the content and planning of business reviews.
  • Prepare strategic presentations and identify champions for new projects or programs.

Reporting and Financials

  • Support the Vice-President of Procurement Strategy and Global Sourcing in executive reviews with key management.
  • Support the Senior Director, Procurement Strategy in executive reviews by developing and monitoring revenue targets based on overall budgeted objectives.
  • Accountable for full P&L for the generic agreements and operational metrics, including service level, optimal inventory levels (DSI), procurement revenues, departmental expenses, and employee engagement.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead all operational initiatives.
  • Liaise with the management team and Global Sourcing team for key business topics and provide value-added insight, updates, and operational direction on vendor-related issues.
  • Develop a replenishment Operational strategy and lead internal functions through a matrix management organization to ensure optimal support to the Procurement Strategy group.
  • Develop and set departmental KPIs and ensure appropriate tracking mechanisms.
  • Develop appropriate departmental scorecards.
  • Strong leadership skills required when dealing with many different internal departments that need to work in sync to reach corporate objectives collectively (SIVEM, Legal, Sales, Banners, etc.).
  • Work closely with and collaborate with Procurement Operations, Logistics, DCs to ensure strong strategic and operational alignment, leading to good product availability, strong customer service levels, and good overall customer focus and support.

Process Improvement

  • Collaborate closely with Procurement Analytics and multi business unit teams to develop and implement new Gx initiatives that will become key drivers in revenue generation and increase productivity, namely through improved processes and systems.
