  About usThe Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.   The Financial Reporting Group  The Financial Reporting Group is responsible for managing the preparation and delivery of the financial reporting aspects of key DTF products. These include the State’s annual Budget Papers, Annual Financial Report for the State of Victoria, Mid-Year Financial Report, Quarterly Financial Reports and Budget Update.     About the role   As the Director, Accounting Policy, you will be driving and facilitating financial reporting excellence within the Victorian public sector. This is a DTF and sector-wide leadership role, providing robust technical advice on the State’s major transactions and complex financial reporting issues, managing the State’s financial reporting framework, undertaking independent quality assurance on the State’s major financial publications, managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships on financial reporting policy matters, leading finance capability building initiatives and contributing to Victoria’s sustainability reporting framework development and implementation.   About you   To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: Deep understanding of the Australian external reporting environment and in-depth technical accounting expertise and conceptual knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, including their application in the public sector context. Strong knowledge of Victorian Financial Reporting Directions and Financial Management Act 1994 is an advantage. Extensive experience in providing authoritative, practical and high-quality technical advice on highly complex accounting and financial reporting issues, with a strong ability to make sound and balanced judgements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial and technical issues to a range of audiences to support informed decision-making. Demonstrated ability in building and nurturing strategic and respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders, and strong negotiation skills. Strong leadership and management capability, including experience leading diverse and high-performing teams. Ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture aligned to public sector values.
