Under the leadership of the Senior Vice President, Ambulatory Care and Network Development and in partnership with HMH administrative leadership, physician leadership, local site leaders, service line leaders, joint venture partners and other constituents, the Director, Ambulatory Care and Network Development is responsible for optimizing HMH's current and future investments in ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and Urgent Care Centers (UCCs) by overseeing all joint venture and managed service organization partners, improving operations, developing new locations, developing new partnerships and determining the future path of existing locations. The Director ensures efficient and effective deployment of service line and ambulatory care initiatives and processes and acts as a key interface with HR, Finance, managed care, marketing, compliance, quality, facilities, legal, strategy and IT for cross-functional initiatives and responsibilities. Works collaboratively with the hospital campus leadership to ensure consistency of processes in order to maximize initiatives for improving benchmarking, and leveraging technology platforms to support service line operations. This position will serve as an active board member of all of HMH ASC locations and UCC partnerships providing support and direction to site specific decisions based on HMH's interests. This position is responsible for monitoring and analyzing key financial indicators and performance metrics. Makes recommendations to modify business activities as needed in response to changing financial situations. In addition, this position will support other projects, initiatives and service lines in the Ambulatory Care and Network Development portfolio as identified and assigned. Responsibilities A day in the life of a Director, Ambulatory Care and Network Development at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: Assists SVP, Ambulatory Care and Network Development with development of business plans to support business growth opportunities, program development and any other special projects. Functions as a facilitator between HMH and our joint venture partners. Manages the relationship with the managed service organizations (MSO) that manage the business unit's business. Works closely with our network, hospital leadership and JV partners to find new locations, service lines and organic growth opportunities to grow the business at our ASC locations. Works closely with HMH support areas such as finance, managed care, legal, HR, marketing, compliance, DTS/IT, etc. to best integrate our ASCs into the network. Works closely with physician partners and team members in our ASC and UCCs. Attends Ambulatory Care and Network Development team meetings to ensure and facilitate achievement of clinical and fiscal objectives related to the performance of the service line at Hackensack Meridian Health. Reports progress and needs to senior leadership on a recurrent basis. Serves as a resource leader and liaison to clinical, IT and fiscal team members across the continuum to evaluate complex care transformation issues and identify appropriate desired outcomes and interventions. In partnership with finance, business intelligence, strategy and analytics support, identifies, tracks, analyzes, and reports on relevant data and metrics, including identification of opportunities, obstacles and potential industry developments which will drive service line operation and strategy development and to strengthen the performance of the service line at HMH. Responsible for managing the HMH Regional Manager(s) for urgent care operations as well ensuring any JV partner team members are following HMH protocol ie flu shot mandates, quality, clinical expectations etc. Responsible for overseeing the internal Surgery Center leaders including leading and directing the work at the sites, handling performance evaluations for subordinates, and making or approving personnel decisions such as hiring, termination, etc. Analyzes data to proactively identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement; identifies areas requiring focused response, participates in root cause analyses and development of actionable items. Executes strategies to provide consistent service line operational performance and practice. Resource to leaders for guidance on financial management and planning, productivity reporting, and purchasing. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Adheres to all policies, procedures and standards of the Hackensack Meridian Network. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Master's Degree. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, with at least seven (7) years in a leadership role. Extensive budget experience. Excellent financial management, delegation, and organizational skills. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, internally and externally. Exceptional communication skills and experience with engaging and building relationships with network leadership. Knowledge of health care and business analytics, metrics, benchmarks, economic engines and standards that drive and/or shape the industry. Ability to establish and measure various metrics to assess success of the service line. Demonstrated ability to develop creative, workable strategies and tactics to accomplish goals and objectives. Strong leadership presence, relationship building skills and ability to influence, lead and direct individuals in multiple functional areas and across all levels of employees, management and community leaders. Demonstrated analytical ability to identify problems, develop solutions and execute in collaboration with other leaders or constituents. Strong business acumen focusing on results.
