We’re looking for a Director – Assurance and Risk to join Aon’s Second Line of Defence (2LoD) Risk, Governance and Compliance team, reporting to the Head of Compliance – Australia and PNG. What You Will Do As Director – Assurance and Risk, you will lead the design and delivery of Aon’s compliance assurance program across Australia and PNG. Key responsibilities include: Develop and maintain effective annual assurance plans for Aon Australia Group entities, supported by robust methodologies and procedures covering planning, execution and reporting of assurance activities. This involves working closely with Aon Senior Leadership Team and business SMEs, leading assurance related engagements and providing expert risk and regulatory advice through various forums and committees. Conduct regular 2LoD reviews and assessments of compliance controls related to regulatory (ASIC, ATO, AUSTRAC, AFCA, etc.) requirements and NIBA Code of Practice. In line with the Aon Australia Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), provide appropriate recommendations to enhance the overall effectiveness of compliance measures across Aon businesses. Supervise and advance outstanding remediation actions to ensure timely resolution. Provide 2LoD check and challenge for Aon operations and functions on incorporating risk and compliance assessment into their decision -making processes in line with the ERMF. Build and maintain effective relationships with Aon Australia, APAC and Global Risk and Compliance stakeholders across all three lines of defence, by sharing standard processes and ensuring alignment with global and regional policies. Work with Aon Centre of Excellence’, Global Compliance Operations and Internal Audit teams to ensure ongoing collaboration and participation in required working group and projects. Prepare and present quarterly assurance reports to the Australian Risk and Compliance Committee, the APAC Risk Committee and other management forums. Promote risk aware culture and support the Head of Compliance – Australia and PNG in developing appropriate strategies to address compliance challenges. What We Are Looking For To succeed in this role, you’ll bring: Min 10 years of practical experience in 2LoD assurance and/or risk leadership within financial services industry, with deep understanding of various financial products and services across banking, insurance and superannuation. Extensive knowledge of risk management practices and relevant to them control testing and evaluations. Practical exposure to the Board/Risk and Compliance Committee reporting, and working with internal/external audit teams to ensure effective assurance mechanisms across the business. Strong partner engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
