Description
Director- Brand Communications The Director, Brand Communications is the senior brand authority for the firm. The role owns firm positioning, enterprise narrative, brand architecture, governance, reputation, and the sponsorship and strategic events portfolio across 20+ markets. The role shapes how the firm is understood externally and directs the investments that take the brand into market. It sets the standards each market operates within, leads the brand response through M&A integration, and represents the firm at a global level. The ideal candidate has led a brand repositioning at firm or enterprise level, brings strong editorial judgement, and has managed sponsorship and events as commercial investments with clear return. Responsibilities * Define and own firm positioning and the enterprise narrative across all markets.  * Set the messaging framework that underpins all campaigns, content and client communications.  * Establish and maintain brand architecture, naming conventions and visual identity across the portfolio.  * Lead the brand approach to M&A integration, ensuring consistency and clarity at firm and market level.  * Set and enforce brand governance standards, ensuring consistent application across all touchpoints.  * Act as the senior escalation point for brand and reputation matters, including media response.  * Define the firm’s proactive PR and earned media strategy, working in close partnership with Communications, who lead execution through the PR function.  * Manage the sponsorship and strategic events portfolio as a disciplined commercial investment.  * Determine sponsorship strategy and make investment and renewal decisions based on measurable impact.  * Maintain senior relationships with key external partners and rights holders.  * Oversee employer brand and recruitment marketing in line with the firm’s narrative.  * Translate brand and perception data into clear actions that shape positioning and market presence.  * Represent the firm in global brand forums and contribute to group-wide brand strategy and standards.  * Ensure a consistent and high-quality brand experience across all markets and channels.  Skills and Experience * Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s in Marketing, Communications or related field preferred.  * The candidate brings at least 12 years of experience in senior brand leadership roles.  * The candidate has deep expertise in brand architecture, including portfolio structure, naming strategy and governance across multiple entities and markets.  * The candidate has led a firm or enterprise-level brand repositioning from strategy through to market launch.  * The candidate demonstrates strong editorial judgement and can shape and defend narrative at C-suite level.  * The candidate has set and enforced brand standards across multiple international markets, ensuring consistent application at scale.  * The candidate has guided brand through M&A and organisational change, including integration and transition states.  * The candidate has managed sponsorship and events portfolios with clear commercial accountability and measurable return.  * The candidate has a strong understanding of reputation management and the role of earned media within a broader brand strategy.  * The candidate has a track record of using brand and market insight to inform firm-level decisions.  * The candidate is comfortable operating in a complex, matrixed environment across regions and functions.  * The candidate can work across time zones and cultures.  * The candidate is willing to travel as required.    #LI-KS1 We are Grant Thornton Grant Thornton Ireland is rapidly approaching 3,000 people, in 9 offices across Ireland, Isle of Man, Gibraltar and Bermuda.
