REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Distinguished leader with PhD in a relevant discipline
• Significant experience in philanthropy or social impact or a related field, demonstrating an ability to bridge academic inquiry with practical application
• Strong training, mentoring, and public engagement skills
• Broad and deep knowledge of philanthropy and of research methods and techniques to develop research objectives and projects
• Demonstrated ability to manage large scale and multi country research initiatives
• Demonstrated experience of training and mentoring
• Deep understanding of cultural contexts
• Demonstrated experience of teaching (for the Professor of Practice title)
• Strong public engagement skills
• Financial acumen
• Strong regional network

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Fluency in Arabic is desirable

Education

• Develop training opportunities for the philanthropy ecosystem across varied stakeholder groups drawing on the Center for Strategic Philanthropy research agenda
• Amplify opportunities and impact of Center for Strategic Philanthropy across stakeholder groups through programming and outreach
• If appropriate (depending on the profile of the successful candidate), develop courses across NYUAD at the undergraduate and/or graduate level that deal with Strategic Philanthropy, possibly teaching 1 course per academic year in the first year and 2 courses per academic year thereafte

Research

• Develop a multi-year research strategy to study strategic philanthropy and lead on white paper production and thought leadership articles
• Leverage relevant NYUAD interdisciplinary research to elevate and broaden the impact of the Center for Strategic Philanthropy
• Assess, interpret and evaluate outcomes of research
• Make presentations at conferences and exhibit work in other appropriate events
• Work closely with philanthropy initiatives at other leading universities
• Liaise with NYUAD leadership and the external Patron for the Center for Strategic Philanthropy

Convening

• Lead an annual flagship regional event for practitioners/academics to disseminate research, best practices and bring together key stakeholders across a wide audience, with the aim of developing and showcasing innovations in philanthropy especially relevant for the MENA region, drawing on the Center for Strategic Philanthropy research agenda
• Originate and develop external networks across the MENA region, including key scholars
• Engage bespoke audiences across MENA region regularly to catalyze greater collaboration
• Lead activities to establish Center for Strategic Philanthropy as crucial part of the philanthropy ecosystem in the region
