POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as an advanced clinically-based practitioner within four distinct domains: clinical practice/clinical consultation, education, research utilization and leadership. In these roles, the Clinical Specialist has the primary function of meeting the needs of the patient, staff member and physician. As a role model, the Director of Education utilizes nursing, change, and education theories as a foundation for clinical practice. The Director of Education is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team working collaboratively with others. Functions as an “expert” nurse who facilitates the development of the nursing staff while simultaneously advancing professionalism in nursing, specifically in the areas of clinical practice, education, research utilization and leadership.
EDUCATION:
Graduate from School of Nursing. M.S.N. required.
Required licensures/certifications
Certified as a Clinical Specialist preferred.
Active BLS Instructor certification.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Skills and Abilities Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to advancing the concept of nursing science in the hospital and the strategies for applying relevant concepts. Knowledge of current clinical practice, clinical specialist, education, leadership, and performance improvement concepts. Possess the ability to develop and implement organizational strategies to address opportunities to improve the clinical practice of nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 4 years clinical nursing experience, demonstrating increasing leadership responsibilities. Previous experience in the roles of Charge Nurse or Clinical Educator desirable
