Important leadership role in one of the largest Clinical Trials research ecosystems in Australia Full time, continuing position SPS B competitive remuneration package including 17% superannuation About the opportunity Do you want to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of clinical trials at the University of Sydney? We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Clinical Trials to lead the development of systems, processes, and strategies to support researchers conducting clinical trials across the University. This senior leadership role will provide strategic direction, establish governance and compliance frameworks, and oversee researcher-focused services that ensure high-quality, competitive, and impactful trial delivery. You will join a collegial, supportive and inclusive team and lead a multifunctional unit responsible for governance, risk, contracts, clinical data management, training and researcher development. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders across health, government and industry, you will make a significant contribution to advancing the University’s clinical research capability, supporting researchers, and improving outcomes for patients and communities. Your key responsibilities will be to: lead the implementation of strategy for clinical trials support in line with University research goals develop and implement a scalable support model for diverse clinical trials across multiple disciplines build and manage a multifunctional, researcher-focused clinical trials support team champion systems and processes that improve efficiency, transparency and compliance in trial management ensure clinical trials are integrated into University strategic initiatives including the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator and Western Sydney/Westmead program refine policies, procedures and risk frameworks for trial approval, governance and oversight provide expert advice to senior leaders on regulatory, policy and legislative impacts on clinical trials establish and maintain high-level relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government, regulators, health districts and partners oversee collection, analysis and reporting of metrics to inform decision making and improve clinical trial outcomes About you an empathetic leader with the ability to foster a collegial and high-performance team extensive experience in clinical trial management and governance within complex organisations deep understanding of ICH/GCP guidelines, TGA regulations, and the broader clinical trials regulatory environment demonstrated success in building and leading multidisciplinary teams across governance, risk, contracts, and research support proven track record of developing and embedding systems, policies and processes for effective clinical trials operations excellent negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders ability to provide high-level strategic advice to senior leaders and represent the University with credibility and authority on clinical trials issues.
