This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 4000000 - Rs 6000000 (ie INR 40-60 LPA) Min Experience: 16 years Location: Bangalore JobType: full-time As the Director of Cloud Data Engineering, you will define, drive, and execute the organization’s cloud-first data strategy. You will lead cross-functional engineering teams responsible for designing scalable data architectures, migrating legacy systems to modern cloud ecosystems, and implementing robust data engineering frameworks that enable advanced analytics, AI, and enterprise decision-making. This is a strategic leadership role requiring hands-on technical depth, architectural oversight, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Key Responsibilities Cloud & Data Migration Leadership Lead end-to-end data migration and cloud migration programs from legacy on-premise platforms to GCP and MGCP. Develop future-state migration roadmaps, modernization patterns, and best practices for data platforms. Oversee design and implementation of secure, scalable, and cost-optimized cloud data architectures. Architectural Strategy & Execution Define the enterprise-wide cloud data engineering blueprint focused on scalability, performance, security, and operational excellence. Drive architecture reviews, solution design, migration frameworks, and engineering standards. Evaluate industry trends, cloud capabilities, and emerging technologies to ensure the organization stays ahead in the cloud modernisation curve. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management Lead and mentor large, distributed engineering teams including data engineers, cloud architects, and DevOps specialists. Collaborate with product, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver aligned outcomes. Provide executive leadership with insights on cloud strategy, budget planning, and technology investments. Data Platform Engineering Oversee development of cloud-native ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingestion frameworks, real-time streaming, and data transformation systems. Ensure data governance, metadata management, lineage tracking, and compliance with regulatory and security standards. Build and optimize data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures on GCP and MGCP. Operational Excellence & Governance Establish KPIs, SLAs, and performance metrics for cloud data platforms. Drive automation, observability, CI/CD adoption, and operational efficiency across engineering teams. Ensure robust disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud cost governance. Required Skills & Qualifications 16–25 years of progressive experience in data engineering, cloud architecture, and large-scale transformation programs. Expertise in data migration and cloud migration for enterprise systems. Hands-on architecture and engineering experience on GCP and MGCP. Strong knowledge of big data technologies, data modelling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and cloud-native data services. Demonstrated leadership of large engineering teams in high-growth or enterprise environments. Proven ability to influence senior executives and manage complex stakeholder ecosystems. Strong communication, analytical, decision-making, and program-management skills.
