The Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) is actively recruiting for a Director, Commercial Partnerships and Business Development to join our Corporate Services department.
We are a fully remote workforce and are looking for someone who is able to be fully productive, efficient and effective in a remote environment.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Commercial Partnerships and Business Development, is responsible for generating, maintaining, and growing CPS (Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties) product revenue activity at CPhA in alignment with the annual budget.
Along with cross-functional team involvement, the Director will develop sales strategies and tactics each year required to generate the overall sales required.
The Director will manage their team to ensure all targets are met. The Director manages top-level pharmaceutical relationships and assists the Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer with planning and implementing the sales strategy
The Director is the primary relationship manager for CPhA’s CPS key customers and supporters and interacts with them for product sales, to collect feedback, and to build business partnerships that benefit CPhA and the industry.
EDUCATION
University degree in business, marketing or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MBA would be considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE
· Relevant and successful experience in building partnerships and sales, commensurate with that of the level of Director
· Successful track record of managing relationships
· Proven experience leading, motivating and mentoring teams
· Experience meeting / exceeding revenue goals
· In-depth knowledge of the Canadian pharmaceutical industry and healthcare, with expertise in pharmacy.
· Experience in software /digital solutions and integration/interoperability is preferred.

· Superior knowledge of the “selling process” and ability to build and manage a sales pipeline to maximize opportunities
· Analytical / strategic thinking (understands customer-specific needs and ability to build solutions, solve problems)
· Initiative, drive and enthusiasm - loves to accomplish goals and objectives

The Director, Commercial Partnerships and Business Development is responsible for, but not limited to:
· Identifying and developing new business opportunities.
· Building relationships with customers, partners, and vendors.
· Evaluating existing partnerships and sales efforts with an eye toward building on what works and changing what doesn’t.
· Expanding the profile and reach of CPhA and its brands.
· Leading sales and client relationship management teams.
· Developing and strengthening internal and external relationships that will lead to increased lead generation and market share.
· Tracking emerging markets and trends.
· Fostering and working to maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout CPhA and across all teams and work functions.
· Helping to shape CPhA’s long-term objectives and determining plans for how to meet them.
· Providing advice on product development and distribution and promotion strategies.
· Identifying sponsorship opportunities, including nonprofit engagement.
· Conducting webinars and presentations to raise the brand or product profile.
· Traveling to client locations, and other locations as needed.
· Fulfilling requests for proposals (RFPs) from potential partners and customers.
· Helping direct development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.
· Managing all day-to-day issues associated with all existing major accounts and management of a pipeline of renewal and new business to meet revenue targets.
· Presenting product demonstrations and solutions to potential clients through direct communication in face-to-face meetings, Zoom meetings, telephone calls, and emails.
· Ensuring account tracking is completed through CPhA’s CRM
· Identifying and monitoring competitors and research market conditions or changes in the industry that may impact sales.
· Representing CPhA at sales meetings and trade shows.
· Managing staff to ensure they have the tools and support they need to be successful.
