Overview This Deposit Controller position is responsible for the strategic direction, development, and management of all Bank Accounting oversight for Deposits and Cash within Corporate Accounting. Collaborates with other members of the executive management team to align departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the Bank. Provides coaching and guidance to a team of managers that oversee individual accounting areas and develops procedures that support accounting system infrastructure. Maintains a significant span of control through personal leadership, ensuring the overall preparation, accuracy, and completeness of the Bank's financial results. Directs accounting efforts in organizational mergers, acquisitions, and audits. Responsibilities Oversight for Deposit Financial Balances - Responsible for all functions within Deposits Accounting. Lead Deposits NIM analysis and monthly closing and reporting oversight of deposit portfolio for the Bank and its subsidiaries. Ensures proper financial statement classification and mapping for deposits under Bank Standards. Oversees internal control review process to ensure correctness and compliance with Bank policies. Manages the implementation of projects that involve Corporate Accounting such as implementation of new accounting standards, new deposit products, mergers and acquisitions. Managerial Functions - Provides leadership to Cash/Deposits Accounting managers and other direct reports. Makes appropriate changes to department policies, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the recruitment, training, and evaluation of staff. Provides professional development and cross-training to enhance performance. Business Strategy – Subject matter expertise and provide leadership and direction on the long-term strategy of deposits with executive leadership team. Analyzes function processes to identify efficiencies, key objectives, and optimal level of control and risks. Maintains current knowledge of developments in the banking industry to keep staff informed of practices and regulations affecting deposit accounting to liaise with stakeholders. Drives strategic direction of department towards the accomplishment of wider organizational goals. System Support - Drives the development of upgrades, modifications, and new financial systems to support accounting functions. Oversight for deposits & earnings credits mapping architecture and Data Mart deposit support and reconciliation functions. Collaboration - Works closely with auditors, regulatory agencies, and the executive leadership team in the monitoring and review of department processes. Assigns managers their areas of responsibilities and provides guidance as needed.
