Description

We are currently seeking a dynamic Director, Criminal Law Services to lead our operations in Saskatoon and surrounding rural court points. Reporting directly to the CEO, this influential role oversees services at courts in Saskatoon, and its rural court points. The scope of services overseen by this role includes all Criminal Law Services in Saskatoon and vicinity. As a key advisor to Senior Leadership and a representative of Head Office, you’ll shape the future of legal service delivery in the area.
With responsibility for people, programs, and performance, you’ll lead a committed team, manage resources effectively, and ensure high-quality client service. Success in this role requires not just operational expertise - but the vision to advance Legal Aid Saskatchewan’s mission and strategic priorities in a complex and meaningful area of public service.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Strategic Planning & Service Delivery
  • Analyze legal service demand in the area and develop responsive plans aligned with both local needs and corporate objectives.
  • Organize legal staff and private bar resources to efficiently meet service demand.
  • Collaborate with Head Office to develop and implement business plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives for the area.
  • Identify and plan service innovations based on emerging legal trends, community needs, and organizational capacity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five years of litigation experience in criminal law at both Provincial and King’s Bench Court.
  • 3-5 years operational management experience in private practice or LAS overseeing teams of professionals.
  • Experience with planning and change management (need aptitude and evidence of experience).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology and a strong willingness to learn new systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to navigate legal practice software (e.g., LAIN), web-based legal research tools, and other online resources.
