POSITION SUMMARY -

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Data Engineering to join McKesson Technology organization and lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-scale data products. This management-level role will drive the strategic vision for data engineering across the enterprise while managing large-scale data operations built on modern data stack. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with proven leadership capabilities to deliver robust, scalable data solutions that power critical business decisions across our global operations.

CRITICAL SKILLS -

  • Experience leading digital transformation initiatives and complex technology implementations
  • Strong background in building and scaling data engineering organizations (20+ person teams)
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure data services ecosystem (Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, Event Hubs, Cosmos DB)
  • Advanced proficiency with Databricks platform including Delta Lake, MLflow, and advanced analytics workflows
  • Extensive experience with BI development, administration, and enterprise deployment
  • Strong foundation in modern data architectures: data lakes, data warehouses, real-time streaming, and event-driven systems
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Scala, SQL, .NET) and infrastructure-as-code practices

ADDITIONAL SKILLS -

  • Experience with P&L responsibility, budget management, and technology ROI optimization
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, regulatory compliance, and data privacy requirements
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders and non-technical audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Azure certifications (Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
  • Databricks certifications (Professional Data Engineer, Professional ML Practitioner)
  • Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, financial services, manufacturing)
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI/ML platform development and deployment
  • Previous experience at Fortune 100 companies with similar scale and complexity
