The role of Chief Controls Office - Director, Data, Reporting & Analytics at Webster Bank will play a critical role in overseeing and strengthening the bank’s control environment. This individual will be responsible for supporting reporting and analytics to ensure centralized consistent and accurate reporting, across Front-Line Control Office functions, including root cause analysis, identifying trends and correlations, working with complex data in a highly matrixed environment, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise Data Analytics and Aggregation, along with Management and Regulatory Reporting within the banking sector. This individual will also be involved with transformational initiatives and the delivery of critical, large-scale, complex, high-visibility, regulatory remediation programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Advanced degree preferred.
o Minimum of 7 years of experience in Finance, Credit, Risk management, Operational risk, or Internal Audit within the banking or financial services industry.
o Substantial experience in leading Data Analytics and Aggregation, Management and Regulatory Reporting programs within the banking sector.
o Deep understanding of risk management methodologies (e.g., risk identification, assessment, control, and monitoring).
o Familiarity with data integration tools and technologies to pull data from various systems for analysis.
o Understanding of the general RCSA process.
o Strong understanding of operational risk management techniques and control assessment methodologies.
o Knowledge of OCC Heightened Standards and Regulatory Category IV banking requirements.
o Excellent leadership, professionalism, and project management skills.
o Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to understand new processes and identify potential risks.
o Extensive experience in creating dashboards and reports using visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
o Experience for developing automation techniques and scripting to streamline data collection and reporting processes.
o Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, R, or Python for statistical analysis.
o Proficiency to interpret data trends, patterns, and correlations to support risk management decisions.
o Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to present complex information clearly. Strong and effective verbal and written communication, along with collaboration skills are crucial for working with across different teams and departments.
o Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build effective working relationships across business units and lines of defense.
o Strategic thinker with attention to detail and operational acumen.
o Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
o Proficiency in risk management software and data analysis tools.
o Willingness to learn, adapt, and be flexible in a maturing environment. Accepting of mentorship and coaching.
o Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
This role has a hybrid work schedule and can be based in our NYC, Jericho, Southington, Stamford, Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $145,000 USD to $165,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
