Job Description
The Director of Data Science is an open rank faculty position at the University of Nevada, Reno – School of Medicine will lead a newly established office focused on clinical informatics and data science. This role encompasses developing and implementing strategies to leverage the school’s data assets effectively. The Director will spearhead the creation of an education and research program aimed at engaging students, faculty, and the community in advancing the school’s mission. This includes fostering innovative teaching methodologies, conducting groundbreaking research, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration within the university and with external partners in the healthcare industry.
Responsibilities will include curriculum development, mentorship of graduate students and junior faculty, and active participation in service activities at departmental, university, and professional levels. The Director will also be instrumental in securing research funding and publishing significant research findings in esteemed academic journals. With a commitment to excellence in teaching, the Director will design and deliver courses in health informatics, ensuring they reflect the latest advancements in the field.
Overall, this position requires a strategic leader with a PhD in Health Informatics or a similar field, exemplary pedagogical skills, and a dedication to fostering a thriving academic and research environment. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data science education and translational clinical research at the University of Nevada, Reno – School of Medicine.
