HOW TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, Law, Engineering or a related field. Master degree would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in applicable defense contractor, government, military or business experience required – with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Required security clearance to access Classified and Secret documentation and data.
  • Direct experience with government community and ability to gain access to appropriate government officials.
  • Proven expertise in defense government programs, with a thorough understanding of procurement, contract, Program Management processes, IT & physical security requirements and data rights.
  • Expert-level knowledge of principles of industry practices applicable to export/import and sanctions compliance programs; knowledge and experience of US, Canadian EU and other global Customs regulations, the US Export Administrations Regulations, EU dual use regulations and other global export regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, DFAR and FAR Regulations, other global trade regulations as applicable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials/clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resilience, resourcefulness, and the ability to make decisions with imperfect information.
  • Ability to optimize the use of technology including AI in deploying the company defense and government compliance program.
  • Perform need analysis of the team, build and recruit the talent needed for the mandate.

Job Director, Defense Compliance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration of compliance functions related to defense and government programs from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Implement all regulatory requirements required for Bombardier’s defense programs.
  • Implement and lead the company Offset and ITB/VP program. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Offset obligations including developing and executing Offset plans for Bombardier programs.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to build and implement the required organizational changes consistent with a maturing and developing defense contractor culture.
  • Develop with internal stakeholders and then lead and oversee defense material/data classification, safeguarding compliant with government requirements.
  • Support the bid/proposal process ensuring compliance with government requirements. Ensure adherence to FAR/DFARS and other relevant regulations for government contracts.
  • Ensure adherence to site and country specific global trade compliance and international trade regulations. Lead classification, licensing and documentation requirements for ITAR US State Dept, US Commerce Dept including export permit drafting/submission
