Description
The Director, Distribution Engineering provides leadership and direction for all distribution design engineering services within assigned Region. Leader is responsible for business expansion, establishing and maintaining client relationships, achieving financial objectives, efficient internal department operations, and for fostering a culture of high performance and while delivering a quality product. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Directly responsible for assigned Region’s profit & loss, and decision making that enables overall company success. * Responsible for business expansion, establishing new and maintaining existing client relationships. * Responsible for achieving high customer satisfaction, through positive client relationships, good communications, cost management, quality work product, and delivering within targeted dates. * Assists the department VP with creation, implementation, and execution of the Distribution departments annual business plan and long-term strategic plan. * Lead and direct regional capital budgeting and assists with business plan development. * Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.  * Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems. * Ensures that regional decisions such as staffing, employee development, and organization are in line with the company business plan and vision. * Responsible for employee performance, technical training, career development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management. * Foster a culture of open communications, high performance, continuous improvement, innovation, teamwork, collaboration, career development, and diversity and inclusion. * Maintains knowledge of electric utility sector capital investment trends. * Ensures compliance with quality control programs and consistent operational procedures.  * Recruit, interview, hire and develop regional leadership. * Oversee the daily workflow of assigned region. * Accountable for department’s safety performance, understanding and adherence to safety rules & policies, incident reporting, and associated corrective actions. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Education, Skills, and Abilities Required * Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years relevant experience. * Professional Engineering (PE) certification preferred. * Strong business acumen that values both tactical execution and long-term strategic vision. * Excellent relationship management, communication & presentation skills. * Deep industry network (clients, partners, and people.) * Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively. * Ability to constructively manage multiple tasks. * Possess valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply). * Ability to travel up to 25%. Incumbent may regularly, walk up to 2 miles per day in various terrain. This role will also occasionally sit, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms, and will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.  Working Environment: This role will have both an indoor normal climate-controlled office setting as well as outside working conditions which may include extreme heat, extreme cold, noise, and sun exposure.  Proper Personal Equipment: Hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, ID card, cellular phone, EH rated footwear with toe box OSHA Ratings, PVD's, DRG Safety Traffic Vest.
