JOB SUMMARY The Director - Divisional Finance, AACHAF is responsible for the reporting, financial analysis and modeling needs of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund (AACHAF), a division of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Reporting to the CFO, the role serves as a liaison between Finance Division and the Action Fund, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided as needed to assist in the day-to-day management of the business and to drive management/business, strategic, and budgetary decisions. This position drives the Programmatic budgeting and financial reporting process, as well as related spend, periodic re-forecasting, financial analytics on division finance, and is the primary point of contact on Divisional revenue matters, including recommending and implementing ways to improve management, tracking, and allocation of these funds.  DUTIES * * * Prepare and deliver financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Senior Management, and Executive Team as assigned. * Work with Programmatic and Finance staff to develop project and grant proposal budgets, educate staff on budget and financial planning as well as Trust needs and processes.  * Work with AACHAF and Development stakeholders to develop, monitor, and report on annual Division revenue goals, including highlighting any potential issues or shortfalls for action by the CFO and Division Senior Management in a timely manner.  * Track donor reporting requirements and provide financial information formatted for external stakeholders of Division Senior Management and Development. * Monitor performance obligations in Division grant agreements through regular coordination with project managers and escalate revenue- or cash-impacting delays to CFO and Division Senior Management. * Work with Grants staff to monitor status of sub-award payments and communicate upcoming cash needs to Senior Director of Program Finance & Grants. * Reconcile budgets and anticipated costs with actual resource allocation. Prepare formal monthly narrative on variances for Division Senior Management and CFO including balance of unbudgeted cash available by restricted purpose.  * Prepare working budget adjustments and recommend solutions for improvements in subsequent budgeting cycles.  * Work with VP of Finance & Controller on cash-impacting budget adjustments to coordinate and facilitate cash management and short-term investment decisions. * Direct the appropriate Division staff to process invoices in an accurate and timely manner and verify that Programmatic expenditures are charged to the appropriate project and award, comply with Trust and donor guidelines, and comply with the approved project and/or proposal budget. * Ensure that division-funded personnel activity reporting is submitted in a timely manner. * Prepare monthly journal entries for restriction release, revenue recognition, and other monthly close tasks as coordinated with the Senior Director of Program Finance & Grants. * Monitor, support, and ensure effective life cycle administration, grants budget management, and reporting for grants from foundations, federal and state agencies, and other non-profit organizations. Prepare ad-hoc donor financial reporting as required. Coordinate review of project proposals and donor reporting with Senior Director of Program Finance and Grants. * Ensure compliance with federal or state regulations and the award terms and conditions of both the prime recipient and subrecipient for any federally-funded or state-funded grants or subawards, including matching funds. Assist the Grants and Compliance Specialist with financial and compliance reporting and maintain documentation of all efforts.  * Design and implement reporting systems and processes for new initiatives as needed, working with the Senior Finance staff to streamline existing systems.  * Collaborating with the Senior Director of Program Finance & Grants, monitor restricted cash balances and update related cash forecasts.  * Collaborating with the Sr. Director of Budgeting and Endowments, prepare AACHAF Endowment reports on a monthly basis * Additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * * * At least 8+ years’ experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.  * Advanced analytical skills, problem solving (issue identification and prioritization) skills, communication and presentation skills are essential for this role, plus the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.  * Advanced project-management, team-management and client-management skills. Ability to achieve results with limited supervision.  * * * Effective presentation skills. Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills, as well as strong verbal communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail. * * * Experience successfully managing key stakeholders and relationships. Proven ability to collaborate across departments to implement processes and achieve results. Track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with multiple stakeholders. When working in the office, public contact and ability to work successfully in close proximity to others required. When working off site, ability to work effectively in a remote environment, maintaining productivity and communications to meet deadlines and goals, is required. * * * Demonstrated success in engaging diverse colleagues and stakeholders. Bi-lingual language skills a plus.  * Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion. Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions required. Able to handle frequently changing and/or unscheduled tasks with accuracy. Entrepreneurial spirit and skill set a plus. * * * Proven ability to continually develop skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices.  * Demonstrated competence using Zoom, MS Teams, and other video conferencing platforms in a professional setting. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required. Familiarity with other software, including databases, a plus. * Regular and reliable attendance is required. * Minimal travel required. *     PAY & BENEFITS     This is a full-time, exempt level position, eligible for full benefits, including health, dental and life insurance, retirement     benefits, paid parental leave, and 3+ weeks of vacation, plus sick time and holidays.       Hiring Range: $120,000-125,000 per year
