Job Summary: Responsible for facility emergency services and administration functions, including financial management, operational performance, clinical performance and outcomes and program development. Supervises and directs managers and specialists within chain-of-command and oversees the supervision of emergency services staff members. Exercises independent judgment when recruiting, training, coaching, supervising and responsibly directing assigned staff. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required Master's Degree: Preferred Seven years' technical experience: Preferred Five years' leadership experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required Clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification: Preferred Department Specific License/Certifications: Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN): Required Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Required Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Healthstream Pediatric Advanced Life Support (HS-PALS) or RQIPALS: Required Essential Functions: Develops annual operating and capital budgets, seeking manager, physician and staff input. Reviews and analyzes monthly data and general operating cost reports. Develops plans of action for unjustified variances and cost containment. Projects anticipated volume and demand for resources, conducts cost analyses and analyzes and monitors budget reports and variances. Evaluates human and material resource utilization, makes necessary adjustments and collaborates with finance and other business personnel to develop new program initiatives. Analyzes and interprets complex data sets and reports, including variance analyses, financial and quality information and population specific reports. Promotes satisfied and competent employee work environments by establishing a climate for growth and challenge, providing timely performance appraisals and promoting manager and staff development and mentoring. Directs and implements unit staff and management hiring processes, counseling, discipline and performance management. Participates in management and staff interviews, as appropriate. Collaborates with managers to strengthen interview skills and select new employees. Supports managers in personal and professional growth and development. Coaches managers to enable them to develop the necessary skills to lead effectively. Directs, delegates and oversees work efforts to ensure quality service, quality outcomes and patient satisfaction. Maintains 24-hour accountability and authority for decisions regarding patient care, unit operations and personnel management. Responsible for ongoing patient care review, evaluation and revision of standards. Oversees plans and nursing care provision. Maintains up to date knowledge surrounding regulatory requirements for the provision of clinical services. Translates requirements into operations to ensure compliance. Uses automated systems to access, transmit and produce information. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
