GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Enterprise Communications is an ambassador of Golden 1’s mission, vision, and culture and provides direct oversight for all strategies and activities that connect employees to Golden 1’s purpose, engage them in the achievement of our Strategic Goals, and generate excitement for the social and community impact we make for our members and the communities we serve. Empowered with visibility to enterprise-wide initiatives, this position leads a team to serve in partnership as business advisors to key stakeholders while leveraging traditional and multimedia internal communications channels.
This position requires bold proactive engagement and cross-functional collaboration in the strategic development and execution of communications programs. In addition to being a leader who can inspire and guide their team to success through strong mentorship, clear direction, and effective conflict resolution.
The Director will additionally evaluate and analyze insights and learnings to define benchmarks and maximize return on objectives, recommending improvements and innovations through regular, constructive dialogue with senior leadership and colleagues cross-collaboratively.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:

  1. Exceptional research skills with strong ability to analyze and present data to inform and influence business decisions.
  2. Strong, effective, and persuasive business writing skills, from generating reports to creating presentations.
  3. Effective oral and presentation skills required.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team.
  5. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate a computer and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, and telephone.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills required to consistently deliver a clear and consistent message to Golden 1 employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field required.
  2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, marketing, and/or corporate affairs with emphasis on developing and managing communications programs. Experience building partnerships, relationships, and teams within the organization. Experience in communications campaign practices and programming. Strategic planning with enterprise mindset and a minimum of 5 years of management and/or supervisory experience required.
  3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Knowledge of corporate communications practices and trends. Strong work ethic with a passion to advocate and serve internal audiences. Detail-oriented, with strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills. Strong writing skills. Self-starter attitude and can work independently and as part of a larger team. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serve on the department leadership team, working with other department leaders and teams to help create and execute an integrated enterprise communications and development strategy.
  2. Manage, identify, develop, and evaluate strategies that ensure our enterprise communications initiatives exemplify Golden 1 Credit Union’s Mission, Vision, and strategic priorities.
  3. Establish and track metrics that help correlate enterprise communications programs to employee engagement and organization performance.
  4. Represent the voice of the employee to leadership and reflect understanding of employee needs in messaging.
  5. Support VP, Enterprise Communications, in addressing communications needs to executive and senior leadership in collaboration with cross-functional team leaders to coordinate project communications and messages that enhance their internal presence and contribute to the achievement of project goals.
  6. Maintain visibility to enterprise-wide initiatives across business lines to identify, develop, and evaluate areas for leveraging, improving, and innovating enterprise communications.
  7. Partner with HR in the development of strategies and execution of tactics for HR programs.
  8. Oversee and optimize all employee communications, leveraging traditional and multimedia channels, to keep employees informed about relevant news and information.
  9. Build and execute communications to support Golden 1 culture, focused on the core principles that make our culture strong and unique.
  10. Provide sound counsel to executive leadership and other leaders in times of change, crisis or for initiatives that have a widespread impact.
  11. Manage content on G1 Insiders, Golden 1’s internal social networking site, and ensure all materials are aligned with company priorities and communication strategy.
  12. Meet deadlines, prioritize communication requests, and maintain strong attention to detail to ensure consistency and quality.
  13. Research and write Board, Committee, and C-level reports, as well as attend meetings as necessary, ensuring timely delivery to all stakeholders; edit and develop content for the monthly report.
  14. Assist and support the VP - Enterprise Communications with development of annual and ongoing strategy and budgets, planning, coordination, and implementation of programs and initiatives.
  15. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors.
  16. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
  17. Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.
