About the Role: The Financial Management Unit within the Chief Financial Officer Division delivers high‑quality, consistent financial and business management support to the Divisions of Canberra Health Services, working closely with key stakeholders. The Unit is responsible for developing and managing budgets and plays a critical role in monitoring and enhancing performance against agreed indicators and targets. Finance Business Partners deliver a comprehensive suite of financial support services, including budget planning and oversight, divisional financial reporting, operational activity analysis, forecasting, cost assessments, and reviews of fees and charges. They also prepare business cases, manage re‑profiling and rollover requests, and coordinate ad hoc statutory reporting for external stakeholders. In addition, they provide tailored financial advice and strategic support to the various business divisions within the Canberra Health Services Directorate. Under the limited direction of the Senior Director, the role requires strong problem‑solving, communication, and financial management skills to effectively navigate and resolve complex financial matters. The position provides leadership and guidance to direct‑report Finance Business Partners, supporting them to deliver high‑quality advice while ensuring issues are appropriately analysed, risks are clearly articulated, and solutions are practical, sustainable, and aligned with organisational objectives. The role also involves proactively engaging with senior stakeholders, exercising sound judgement in ambiguous or high‑pressure situations, and contributing to continuous improvement in financial governance, reporting, and decision‑making across the Directorate.
